Working Principle of Solar PV System

Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels convert sunlight into electricity. Sun is a unlimited source of free energy, Solar Energy Panels are becoming a cost-effective way to generate electricity. A Solar Panel is made up of a silicon based semi-conducting material, compressed between two electrical contacts. Sunlight hits Solar Energy Panels with particles of sunlight called photons and solar panel converts those photons into electrons of Direct Current (DC) electricity. The Solar inverter converts that DC power that commonly used in batteries, into Alternating Current or AC power and AC power is the kind of electricity that run your all lightings and electronics like TV, Frieze, AC, Computer and toasters etc. as you can see in the above picture.



Working of On Grid Solar Power Plant

The grid connect inverter converts the DC electricity produced by the solar panels into 240 V AC electricity, which can then be used by the property/household. If a grid connect system is producing more power than is being consumed, the surplus is fed into the mains power grid to Govt. Govt will adjust the same in your next electricity bill or pay you for the same.

  • When the power goes off, you will still need to run the generator but your fuel consumption will be lower

Disadvantage

  • This the Grid-Tie system and it will work with grid only. System will not run if the grid is down and the diesel generator is also not running.
  • There is no power backup or battery bank in this system.

Working of Off Grid Solar Power Plant

Off-Grid a battery based Solar Power Plant will supply electricity from Solar Panels. In the day time solar will run the connected load and balance energy storage in the form of a battery bank through Solar Inverter to provides a buffer and control flexibility to allow optimum use of the renewable energy source without jeopardizing the robustness and quality of power delivered to the customer. The system controller will monitor and measure how much energy is being produced by the solar array, it has the ability to harvest the maximum possible energy. In the event of large availability of solar power and less load, it will be possible to store the energy in the battery and to cater the load simultaneously. The battery bank will allow excess solar energy to be stored and used later on when required. In effect the battery bank will provide flexibility and supply.

If you want to reduce your electricity bill only, the you should go with On-Grid System. Off-Grid System is completely different from On-Grid System.
